Mom's Happy Frog Bag

mom-bag-front mom-bag-back OK-- so it's not exactly a quilt. But it's definitely quilted! And it used all sorts of quilting techniques and I took a class on how to make it at a quilt store (Honey Bee Quilt Store). So it counts! :)

My mom (a frog-lover) was the inspiration and the recipient of this bag. It was a Mother's Day, 2004 gift (though, as is the usual, it was a little late-- but to be fair, the class only ended the week of). This bag is from a pattern called the "Easy on the Back Bag" from designer Jenny Raymond. The pattern was incredibly difficult to read and understand, so I'm thankful I took the class because the instructor, Andrea Brokenshire, was awesome! She made a whole packet of supplemental instructions to get us through the process. This bag was so much fun to make because it allowed me to use all sorts of techniques and combine them together-- you'll never get bored of making this bag. Foundation piecing, fabric painting, trapunto, snippets, quilting, couching, funky trims, lots of colors-- way cool! And the best part-- Mom loved it! :)
