This is the (rather last-minute) quilt I made in honor of Chris and Nancy's wedding celebration in August, 2002. Though I knew I wanted to make something for them, I wasn't sure what to do. But about a week before the wedding, I was looking through their bridal registry and saw a bedspread that they wanted-- it was blue/purple and had an Asian feel to it. Inspiration hit! I started thinking of trapunto, Chinese characters, the colors, wall-hanging... It took quite awhile to find the characters that seemed most meaningful and appropriate, but I ended up with faith, love and happiness. I put faith first because I know that a very important part of their lives, and part of what brought them together, is their faith in God.
Unfortunately, you can't really see the trapunto in the picture of the front. But if you look at the back, you can see the shapes of the characters that I quilted around for the puffy trapunto effect.
